Hi zusammen,
Hi guys, there is a really interesting fight coming up on September 16th in Las Vegas. Unified Middle Weight Champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin (37-0-0) is going to defend his titles against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (49-1-1). So why do I give Canelo a good shot to pull of the upset? Basically because in my opinion the timing and the circumstances of this fight benefit him. His promotor Golden Boy did a great job in allowing him to develop his game and grow into a fullblown Middle Weight in recent years. The demand for this fight has been there for a long time but they did not rush Canelo which I think was clever. Now the timing seems right! At lot has been written about whether GGG has lost a step or two. I believe that is true to a degree which should not suprise since he already is 35 years old. For the majority of boxers - especially for those who are not fighting at Heavy Weight - this is the norm. Comparing his fight with Lemieux (2015) and Jacobs (2017) you might assume he got a little slower and his punch output decreased. Of course styles makes fight but to me him slowing down seems valid. I see this fight playing out as follows: "GGG" will be on the front foot early stalking Canelo patiently. Canelo will be hit with some shoots but takes them pretty well. Expect him to start countering triple G after 2-3 rounds more effectively and doing damage to the body. The second half of the fight will be a proper war with Canelo having the slight upper-hand due to bis better defence, hand speed and youth. Expect Canelo to win a closely contested unanimous decision.
Pick: Alvarez to win @ 2,63 3/10 (Marathonbet).
