AUBURN HILLS, Michigan (Ticker) -- The streaking Houston Comets seek to extend their season-high winning streak when they visit the struggling Detroit Shock on Tuesday.
The Comets posted their season-high fourth straight triumph in Saturday's 75-65 triumph over the Charlotte Sting. Sheryl Swoopes, the leading vote-getter in All-Star balloting announced last week, led four players in double figures with 16 points as Houston shot 52 percent (26-of-50).
Detroit dropped its fifth game in its last six in Friday's 80-63 home loss to the Sacramento Monarchs. The Shock trailed throughout and never got closer than seven points after halftime. Plenette Pierson scored 22 points off the bench in her first game for Detroit and Deanna Nolan added 14.
Pierson was acquired from the the Phoenix Mercury on June 29 for Andrea Stinson and a 2006 second-round pick.
The clubs split two games last season. Detroit beat Houston, 82-63, for its first win all time against Houston before suffering a 97-61 loss - its second-largest margin of defeat in franchise history - in the rematch.
