The previous meeting of the teams in the Veikkausliiga at Veritas Stadium is almost a day back a year when Inter's record audience finally witnessed the top fight for the Savo championship. Tomorrow, the maximum allowed audience would be only about a third of last year. According to Inter's head coach José Riveiro, there are other differences, as in principle there are still a lot of games to play.
- The biggest difference is that there are still nine matches in the series, ie a third without playing. Of course, both teams are again very competitive and both are once again aiming for top rankings, Riveiro compares.
In the semi-finals of the Finnish Cup played at Veritas Stadium this year in June, Inter managed to fight for a continuation spot with 4-4 readings. In the previous league match played in Kuopio just over three months ago, KuPS was clearly stronger, even though the final readings in its favorite were only 1-0.
The final of the Finnish Cup and the end of the national match break have stretched the time between Inter's league matches to more than two weeks. In the match played at the end of September, Inter returned to the winning streak with a clear 3-0 victory from FC Lahti. At the same time, Inter's grip on third place was strengthened by the point losses of the pursuers. According to Riveiro, the preparations have gone as usual despite the long break.
- The players had a short break after the cup final and now we have got a real training week with a national break. We've used it to prepare for the key moments of the season, the head coach notes.
KuPS, on the other hand, has not just taken a break from the match, as the team has had to dismantle their match last week as an opponent of positive Europels. However, the team coached by Arne Erlandsen managed to take four points from the Ilves and HIFK home matches. The Kuopio group, which is in the three-point series lead, receives price from Riveiro.
- I think KuPS is the best opponent team in the Veikkausliiga, because the level of their players in every place is so high. They do not take risks in the attack phase and try to play close to the opponent's goal. In a situation like this, it's hard to take advantage of their ball losses because they happen so far from their own goal. They also have many goal scorers and self-confidence very high, the Inter coach praises tomorrow's opponent.
Martti Haukioja and Benjamin Källman played for half an hour against Denmark yesterday in the national team under 21 years of age. However, both have already returned to Turku and will be available for coaching tomorrow. Juuso Hämäläinen and Roope Kantola, who missed the previous matches, are also available, so only Jan Heinonen is not yet fit.
