Vienna has lost it's main sponsor Raiffeisen during the offseason. They had a gap of about 300.000,- first but they closed that gap with a quantity of small sponsors. They have lost 10 important players during the offseason including the austrian national quarterback chris gross. but the 20 year old replacement alexander thury already replaced him for about 2.5 games last season as gross was injured and he did very well. the vikings will be without an import this season but this shouldn't be much of a factor in the austrian football league as their is only 1 import allowed to be dressed per game. the vikings have the best youth football program in all of europe and they will have a lot of new youngsters to play this season, but so do the raiders. the raiders have 5 us imports, but only qb sheldon will play tomorrow. their organisation has founded a new competition for this season, the battle of tirol where they can play all their imports, due to the fact that the austrian football league isn't in much of an interest for them in the regular season (4 of 5 teams qualify for the playoffs). head coach suan fatah said in a local newspaper that the afl is unattractive. furthermore he said that he is unsatisfied with the practice facility as they have to practice on a handball field during the offseason. he regards to the youth programm of the vikings and says that they have a big advantage because they can practice 12 months a year on a very professional basis. also the raiders have lost some key players in the offseason, including rb andreas hofbauer who may have been the best player in the league over the last few years. the raiders will have a lot of young players to start their 1st game tomorrow, too and i am not sure they will be ready for it.
both teams will have a lot of freshman to start tomorrow, but because of the youth facility program the vikings should have a big advantage to start the season. the raiders only have won once since the austrian bowl 2011 against the vikings. last year they won at home 22-20 in a game where vienna was without their starting qb, starting left tackle, best wide receiver and an not at full strength us import running back.
the bookies are overrating the fact that the vikings have lost the main sponsor and that they will play without an import. they have the better squad in the afl where only 1 import is allowed to play. they were at 1.2 odds last year as both teams met in the 1st game of the regular season, too which they won easily 41-14. i don't see any reason that they should be an underdog at home.
interwetten has it at 2.75, betathome and gwbet at 2.1.
