Pick: Phoenix -4 @ 1,99 Pinnacle
NO/Oklahoma City (31-27, 19-9 home) , Phoenix (41-17, 17-9 away)
Where the hell did they come up with this line as I am inclined to think that it almost falls into the “too good to be true” category? I am pretty sure that I did not dream that Phoenix beat the Mavericks in Dallas yesterday by a score of 115-107 and now they are only laying five points against the Hornets who have only managed to come away with two wins (Utah and Portland) in their last six games?
While New Orleans has scored an average of 87.1 points in their last five games, they have only allowed 91.1 points per game but those were played was against the Jazz (twice), the Blazers, the Sonics and the Clippers who are not exactly the powerhouses of the Western Conference. In Contrast, the Suns have averaged 121.6 points in their last five games against Charlotte, Houston, Milwaukee, Orlando and Dallas. On the season, Phoenix has averaged 108.2 points while the Hornets are averaging 92.2 points per game.
The Suns are on a ten game winning streak and I believe that there is little danger of it coming to a halt tonight in Oklahoma City. While the Suns have been streaking, the Hornets have lost two straight games including an 89-67 loss to the Clippers on Thursday when they scored just 16 points in the 2nd half. They have now had five days off to be continually reminded that since the inception of the shot clock in 1955, no other NBA team has had that low of an offensive output in one half of a game. For the sake of comparison, Phoenix scored FOUR TIMES that many points in the 2nd half of last night’s game after being down by eleven points at halftime.
The Suns have scored 100 points or more in 22 straight games which is the longest streak by an NBA team in more than a decade and the Hornets have score that many only 18 times this season. I do not care if I have to sign a sworn document before placing my wager acknowledging that I am aware that this line looks like a trap, I am looking to sell points tonight. A lot of them.
